Strength & Conditioning

At Olympia Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Clinic we believe that strength and conditioning should form an integral part of the development of anyone that takes part in sport (recreational or competitive) and anyone who is simply interested in keeping fit and healthy. Programs are designed by a Strength & Conditioning coach to allow individuals and teams to progressively achieve their optimal performance, either in their chosen sport or just the game of life.

Strength and conditioning programmes can also be implemented at an appropriate stage of rehabilitation from a sporting injury or a post operative procedure. This is aimed to enable you to get to the previous state of strength and balance capability or exceed what you had prior to your injury or surgery.

What is Strength and Conditioning, and what can a Strength and Conditioning Coach do for you?
Our job is to bridge the gap between the theory of training and applied training, helping you to get faster, stronger, more flexible so that you can perform better and steer clear of injuries. A Strength & Conditioning coach will help by designing a programme that will target your physical needs.

Strength training is only one part of the full picture and strength & conditioning encompasses the entire development of an individual. This includes:

  • Power
  • Speed and Agility
  • Endurance
  • Core Stability
  • Balance and Proprioception
  • Flexibility
  • Injury Prevention/Rehabilitation
  • Weight Management

The aims of our Strength & Conditioning programs at Olympia are to:

  1. Develop correct exercise technique
  2. Improve your strength base
  3. Individualise programmes to address specific strengths and weaknesses
  4. Improve sports specific movements and techniques through agility and speed sessions
  5. Improve your physical conditioning through sport specific conditioning sessions
  6. Restore strength and fitness post injury or surgery
